### De rol van Dexes

[Dexes](https://dexes.nl) is een [databemiddelingsbedrijf](https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/data-intermediary-services) en daarmee een neutrale marktplaats. Wij faciliteren data-uitwisseling en beschikken dus niet over domeinkennis. Wij zijn in april 2026 ISO-270001 gecertificeerd geworden, en door de [ACM](https://www.acm.nl/nl/digitale-economie/data/databemiddelingsdiensten#databemiddelingsdienst-verplicht-registreren) erkend als databemiddelingsdienst.&#x20;

Als marktplaats biedt Dexes Deelnemers de mogelijkheid om producten aan te bieden in de catalogus. Met de juiste metadata worden producten omschreven en worden de voorwaarden tot afname gespecificeerd. Bij een aanvraag worden deze voorwaarden gecontroleerd, en als er aan voldaan wordt leidt dat tot een transactie, en een overeenkomst. Tot dit punt blijft de daadwerkelijke data nog bij de bron, en hebben we het enkel over metadata.

Wanneer de levering plaatsvindt, wordt er dus peer-to-peer data uitgewisseld. Dit federatief datadelen zorgt ervoor dat je als data-eigenaar maximale controle behoudt over je data. Dat noemen we data-soevereiniteit, en is een van de speerpunten van DMI, en in Europa als bredere context.
